OK, snack break: I'm trying out a new camera AND a new recipe. I can't remember where or how I first heard about Deb Perelman's Smitten Kitchen, but I've now bought her cookbook and am finding myself wandering over to her blog every day searching for new cooking projects. Here's my first attempt at one of Deb's recipe's: Coffee Toffee, which I took to a neighborhood cookie exchange. YUM! Don't be scared away by the need for a candy thermometer. It was almost a deal breaker for me, but I took my friend Melissa's advice (not to wing it without a thermometer) and borrowed one from my friend Catey (apparently this is a group project)! Hazelnuts maybe should have been crushed more because, looking back at Deb's blog post, I see the nuts being almost powdered in places. Tasted scrumptious.
